Leo's Homemade Dog Food

This is Leo.  I love him so much.  Keeping him around as long as possible is top priority.  Feeding him the healthiest food I can find will certainly help.  I tried all of the most holistic, healthiest, natural dog foods on the market but they all gave him the runs.  Desperation led me to research homemade dog food.  To my surprise, Mung Beans were a common element in many of the recipes.  Then, I remembered my Kundalini Yoga teacher, Jai Gopal, who had studied with Yogi Bhajan.  Jai taught me that Mung Beans and Rice were a perfect staple food and that the human body could exist on it with little need for much more.  BOOM! The health connection solidified for me.  From then on I decided that it would be the staple in my diet as well as Leo's.  And why not?  Why would I feed my best friend food that I would not eat myself?

Equal Parts:
Mung Beans, Rice, Quinoa, Pumpkin Puree

Chicken (I am terrible with measurements but Leo eats about 1/2 of one chicken breast over the course of a day and he eats about three times a day.  He weighs 20lbs.  I try to use the minimum amount of chicken required to keep him healthy and load up on the previous 4 ingredients as much as I can.  He seems to digest better when he has less chicken.)

Spirulina ( 1 per day - dissolved in 1/3 of a cup of water and mixed in with the food over the course of the day.  Spirulina is a vegetarian source of Taurine)

Shilajit (1 rice sized piece once per day)

*I mix his food together for each feeding.  He may be spoiled and I may have too much time on my hands, but we enjoy the ritual.  This also allows me to eat from the same batches quinoa, rice and mung beans.
